Child Public Health

  • The Child Public Health Professional Development Program is offered as a Masters level subject through the University of Melbourne, but is also open to professionals who are interested in completing the course as part of their continued professional development.

    About the program

The Child Public Health Professional Development Program provides an overview of the factors that influence the health, development and wellbeing of children and the implications of these factors on the life course. Using the ecological model as its framework, the subject explores a range of contemporary child health issues, including but not limited to education and care environments, the impact of poverty and disadvantage, indigenous and cross-cultural issues, nutrition, integrated service delivery, and child-focused policy development. The program provides participants with skills and knowledge to understand and respond to child public health issues.

    Participants

This program is available to those with an interest in children’s health and wellbeing, public health, community child health, and community paediatrics. Individuals may wish to do the subject as part of their continuing educational qualification or for professional development purposes.
